Wolter captures East Bay's NASRA finale
GIBSONTON, Fla. (March 6) — Capitalizing on Wayne Chinn's misfortune, Bobby Wolter Jr. of Lexington, Ky., captured the 35-lap National All Star Racing Association finale at East Bay Raceway Park's Winternationals. Wolter, who took the lead on the 17th lap, pocketed $5,000 for the victory at the third-mile oval just south of Tampa. | Slideshow
Chinn, of Bradford, Ohio, led from the outset of the main event over Wolter, but a faltering battery forced him out of the race after 16 laps, handing the lead to Wolter.
Aaron Ridley of Chatsworth, Ga., never worse than third in three NASRA events at East Bay, finished second with Friday's winner Skylar Marlar of Winfield, Tenn., in third. Arnie Fields of Wallingford, Ky., and David Schmauss of Tampa rounded out the top five finishers.
Nine caution flags slowed the main event.
