Cook rules North Georgia for 10th SRRS victory
CHATSWORTH, Ga. (April 3) — Racing to victory at one of his favorite tracks, Ray Cook of Brasstown, N.C., became the winningest driver in Southern Regional Racing Series history Saturday at North Georgia Speedway.
The fifth-starting Cook earned $3,000 for his 10th career victory on the 5-year-old, Tennessee-based tour. Randy Weaver of Crossville, Tenn., finished second followed by polesitter Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn. Ninth-starting Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, Tenn., was fourth and 12th-starting Mike Collins of Council Bluffs, Iowa, was fifth.
Notes: Cook's D&R Motorsports-owned MasterSbilt Race Car has a Race Engine Design powerplant and sponsorship from Hicks & Ingle Co., A+ Moving & Storage and MasterSbilt. ... Cook has two SRRS victories this season. ... In the only other previous series visit to North Georgia, Cook won on July 7, 2006, his first-ever SRRS victory. ...
