Track champion grabs $3,000 victory at Tri-City
GRANITE CITY, Ill. (April 16) — Capitalizing on a solid start to his season, Mark Voigt of Marine, Ill., raced to victory Friday in a double-sanctioned race at Tri-City Speedway. Voigt, the reigning track champion at the 3/8-mile oval near St. Louis, Mo., earned $3,000 for the victory sanctioned by the National All Star Racing Association and Monster Midwest Series. | Voigt off to hot start | Slideshow
Brian Shirley of Chatham, Ill., went from fifth to second on a lap-25 restart to finish second. He was followed by former Dirt Track World Champion Wendell Wallace of Batesville, Ark., reigning Monster Midwest Series champ Jason Feger of Bloomington, Ill., and Ryan Unzicker of El Paso, Ill. Voigt's most serious challenge came from Feger on a mid-race restart in the 30-lapper.
