Streaking Lloyd grabs UDLMCS victory at EAMS
PHENIX CITY, Ala. (April 17) — Extending a personal streak of five straight weekends with a victory, polesitter Ivedent Lloyd Jr. of Ocala, Fla., earned $4,000 Saturday at East Alabama Motor Speedway in a Sunoco United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series North event.
Lloyd survived charges by hometown star William Thomas on three late restarts in leading all 50 laps of the third annual Alabama Clash at the 3/8-mile oval near the Georgia-Alabama border.
Thomas, who started outside the front row, hounded Lloyd much of the race and got good runs on the leader as cautions appeared three times in the final laps. On the final restart, Thomas pulled alongside Lloyd exiting turn two, but Lloyd's high-side momentum kept him in front at the checkers.
Tyler Ivey of Tallahassee, Fla., gunning for his second straight UDLMCS North victory, finished third while Darrell Padgett of Clay Hill, Fla., rallied after an early pit stop to finish fourth. Mark Whitener of Middleburg, Fla., rounded out the top five.
