Penalties for two drivers lift Blose to Tyler victory
MIDDLEBOURNE, W.Va. (May 15) — Mike Blose crossed the finish line third Saturday at Tyler County Speedway, but the 52-year-old driver from Dayton, Pa., was later elevated to victory when the first two finishers were penalized. Blose earned $1,500 for the 25-lap victory, a makeup from a May 1 rainout on the Fastrak Northeast and Mid-Ohio Valley tours for Crate Late Models.
Apparent winner Mike Pegher Jr. of Wexford, Pa., was stripped of the victory because of unsportmanlike conduct of a crew member following the race, and apparent runner-up Max Blair was docked two positions for clipping an infield cone in turn two on the final lap.
The revised finishing order put 12th-starting Kyle Thomas in second followed by Blair, Gary Knollinger Jr., and Josh Holtgraver.
Shawn Jeff led at the outset, but Blair went from third to first on the second lap to take command. Pegher quickly moved into second, stalking Blair and taking the point on lap 21. That's they way they took the checkers, but the postrace rulings changed the outcome.
