Whynot Motorsports ParkMERIDIAN, Miss. (May 29) — Fourth-starting Rick Rickman of Columbus, Miss., took the lead from his brother Brian on the 12th lap and led the rest of the way for a Promoters Racing Organization Dirt Car Series victory at Whynot Motorsports Park. "I had to work for that one, that was tough," Rickman said. "This car has been really good this year. I have no complaints about it."
Fast qualifier and polesitter Jason Cliburn of Star, Miss., took command early, but Brian Rickman — who started on the second row alongside his brother — went out front on the sixth lap. A brotherly duel developed thereafter with Rick edging ahead on the 12th lap and maneuvering through traffic in holding on the rest of the 40-lapper.
Dane Dacus of Lakeland, Tenn., rallied from his 10th starting spot to finish second while Cliburn held on for third. David Breazeale of Four Corners, Miss., was fourth and outside front-row starter Klint Byars of Carrollton, Miss., rounded out the top five. Brian Rickman ended up ninth after a last-lap melee that crippled his fifth-running car on the final lap.
