Provinzino earns $3,500 for Governor's Cup title
HIBBING, Minn. (June 19) — Winning his fifth race in his 11th start of the season, hometown driver Jeff Provinzino captured the second annual Governor’s Cup at Hibbing Raceway. The 35-year-old WISSOTA Late Model veteran started fourth and raced to a victory worth $3,500 against a 25-car field on the 3/8-mile oval.
Outside front-row starter John Kaanta of Elk Mound, Wis., settled for second with cousins Chad Mahder and Cory Mahder finishing third and fourth. Harry Hanson of Eveleth, Minn., rounded out the top five in the two-day event. Reigning track champion Kyle Peterlin of Hibbing was 17th.
