Rattliff's Lake Cumberland rout completes sweep

Volunteer Racing SeriesBURNSIDE, Ky. (June 26) — Justin Rattliff of Campbellsville, Ky., completed a weekend sweep on the first-year Volunteer Racing Series with Saturday’s flag-to-flag victory at Lake Cumberland Speedway. Rattliff, who won Friday at Ponderosa Speedway, earned $3,000 in the 40-lapper.
Fast qualifier Mike Weeks of Friendsville, Tenn., was second followed by Skylar Marlar of Winfield, Tenn., who rallied from outside the eighth row. Victor Lee of Stanford, Ky., and Greg Johnson of Bedford, Ind., rounded out the top five at the 3/8-mile oval.
Four caution periods slowed the action, none for serious incidents. The initial start was called back and then David Webb drew a lap-one yellow. Mike Marlar’s spin brought out a lap-22 caution and Dustin Linville spun on lap 33.
Notes: Rattliff’s Bloomquist Race Car has a Pro Power Race Engine and sponsorship from MGL Auto Sales, On-Time Courier, JRR Auto Sales and Budda Bert Transmission Sales and Service. ... Skylar Marlar’s 16th-to-third run gave him the PPM Racing Products Hard Charger honors. ... Marlar and Dustin Linville were both banned from the track for a year for their part in a May 22 infield pit fight at Lake Cumberland, but their punishments were reduced. ... Next up for the Volunteer Racing Series is a July 4 event at Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, Ala., paying $3,444 to the winner.
