Cedar Lake Speedway
FAQ: Cedar Lake pay-per-view live production
Frequently asked questions about DirtonDirt.com’s first live pay-per-view video product of the Aug. 5-7 USA Nationals weekend at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis.:
Question: What time does coverage start each day?
Answer: The pre-race show starts at 5 p.m. CDT (that's 6 p.m. Eastern); hot laps are scheduled for 6 p.m. CDT each evening.
Question: What makes this different than other live video productions on the Internet?
Answer: This is far from your typical single-camera shoot. We will employ five cameras, three commentators, instant replay as well as pre- and post-race shows all three nights. Those working on the broadcast have over 60 years of broadcasting experience combined, highlighted by veteran Dirt Late Model video shooters, along with announcers Ben Shelton, Michael Rigsby, Chris Stepan and Rick Eshelman. There will also be a live, interactive chat during the broadcast, moderated by DirtonDirt.com’s Todd Turner, who will add notes and tidbits throughout the night you can only get in the broadcast.
Question: Do I have to be a DirtonDirt.com subscriber to watch the live coverage?
Answer: No. You don't have to currently be a subscriber to watch the live video, but you must create an account for the weekend. You won't be billed for a monthly or annual subscription, but will be billed only for whichever broadcast package you choose. Click here to create an account. If you do choose to become a subscriber, however, you receive a discounted rate on the total package.
Question: DirtonDirt.com always does live updates of crown jewel races. Will you still provide those?
Answer: No. Todd Turner will be moderating the broadcast chat room and not providing live updates such as details of each heat race. There will be more story coverage, much of it timely, than most race weekends, but frequent live updates won’t be posted. We will, however, publish photos throughout each night with dozens of images from noted Dirt Late Model photographer Joey Millard (thesportswire.net).
Question: Can I expect more live video productions from DirtonDirt.com?
Answer: DirtonDirt.com has no plans for more live events through 2010. For instance, our live updates, full-length highlights, interviews and blog-style updates will return the following week at the North-South 100 at Florence, and will continue at the Topless 100, World 100 and other crown jewels the rest of the season. The same great coverage you've come to expect will ramp back up immediately following the USA Nationals. This production a test run to gauge the interest in live Dirt Late Model video.
Question: If I'm a DirtonDirt.com subscriber, and don't buy the live package, will I still get my normal highlights?
Answer: Yes, but in a condensed version. As with restrictions common to pay-per-view events, nightly highlights will be delayed and briefer than typical DirtonDirt.com video reports.
Question: Will an archive of the live broadcast be available? Do I have to buy the live event to access it?
Answer: Yes and Yes. Complete archives of the live events will be available as soon as possible when each night's broadcasts are over. Because of the lengthy program and large file sizes, it may take 24 hours to fully upload each broadcast. The archives will be located on the live broadcast page, and you must have purchased the live broadcast to see the archived material.
Question: Is there a geographic restriction on who can watch the live production?
Answer: Yes, there’s a blackout among those within about 150 miles of the racetrack. If you’re uncertain whether your home would be included in the blackout, email us to check. Anyone who purchases a video package but discovers they’re in a blackout area will receive a full refund.
