Phillips wins at Outlaw for third in a row

MUSKOGEE, Okla. (Aug. 13) — Five-time series champion Terry Phillips of Springfield, Mo., captured his third straight MARS DIRTcar Series victory Friday at Outlaw Motor Speedway. Phillips, who earned $2,700, has won four of the last five series events and a series-leading eight overall. | Slideshow
Eric Turner of Springfield was second followed by Brandon McCormick of Lebanon, Mo., Raymond Merrill of Sallisaw, Okla., and Gary Christian of Broken Bow, Okla., who recorded his first top-five finish in two months.
Sixth-starting Jeremy Payne of Springfield, racing as a teammate to Phillips, overtook Phillips on the sixth lap and built a huge lead before a lap-22 flat tire knocked him out of contention; he ended up 11th.
