Weeks edges Blackburn for Fayetteville victory
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (Aug. 14) — Five-time series champion Ricky Weeks of Rutherfordton, N.C., edged Steve Blackburn of Greensboro, N.C., on Saturday at Fayetteville Motor Speedway for his second Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series victory of the season. Weeks earned $4,000 for his series-leading 31st career victory in the completion of a race rained out July 31.
Blackburn, who restarted up front on the second lap when the race resumed, led most of the way, but Weeks went ahead on the 34th lap and edged away. But Blackburn summoned a late rally, finishing perhaps two feet behind Weeks at the checkers in the 40-lap event.
Fast qualifier Timmy Blackwell of Gray's Creek, N.Nc, was third followed by Dean Bowen of Whiteville, N.C., and hometown driver Scott Autry.
Next up for Carolina Clash competitors is an Aug. 21 event at Dublin (N.C.) Motor Speedway.
