R.J. sails at Duck River for fifth SRRS victory
WHEEL, Tenn. (Sept. 3) — Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, Tenn., outran polesitter Jay Brinkley of Raus, Tenn., on Friday at Duck River Speedway for his series-leading fifth Southern Regional Racing Series victory of the season. The fourth-starting Johnson earned $2,000. | Slideshow
Brinkley finished second followed by Anthony Burroughs of Muscle Shoals, Ala. Former track champion David Gentry of Lewisburg, Tenn., and Dane Dacus of Lakeland, Tenn., rounded out the top five at the quarter-mile oval.
The race was originally scheduled as a two-day, $10,000-to-win event, but the event was condensed midweek.
