Hamrick rallies from 17th for Tyler victory
MIDDLEBOURNE, W.Va. (Sept. 3) — Dusty Hamrick of Clarksburg, W.Va., charged from his 17th starting spot Friday at Tyler County Speedway for a $3,000 victory on the Fastrak Northeast Series.
"This is great," said the excited 29-year-old Hamrick after the 30-lapper. "I wanted it to stay green as the car was good. We struggled in hot laps and the heat race. We made changes and it was fast in the corners."
Kyle Thomas jumped into the lead at the outset, but Hamrick worked his way to the front and took the lead on the 23rd lap at the quarter-mile oval, where racing lasted until the wee hours.
Thomas finished second while Shane Hitt charged from his 23rd starting spot to finish third. Derek Doll and David Watts rounded out the top five.
