Eastside Speedway
WAYNESBORO, Va. (Sept. 12) — J.T. Spence of Winchester, Va., overtook a faltering Gerald Davis of Delray, W.Va., on the last lap Sunday afternoon at Eastside Speedway for a $1,500 victory on the Cline Construction Co. Steel Block Bandits tour.
Davis was in control throughout the race but a blown head gasket slowed his machine in the closing laps, allowing Spence to close in and make a low-side pass on the 40th lap.
Davis settled for second followed by polesitter Bo Feathers, Daniel Brown Jr., and Walker Arthur. Kyle Merkel, the previous night's series winner at Natural Bridge (Va.) Speedway, was 20th after slamming the third-turn wall in hot laps.
The Steel Block Bandits return to action Oct. 15-16 at Allegany County Speedway in Cumberland, Md., for the Western Maryland Nationals.
