Arp rules Boyd's to sweep third SRRS visit

Boyd's SpeedwayRINGGOLD, Ga. (Oct. 1) — Skip Arp of Georgetown, Tenn., captured the caution-free OctoberFast 40 on Friday to complete a sweep of this year's Southern Regional Racing Series events at Boyd's Speedway.
Arp, who earned $3,000, too the lead from polesitter and hometown driver Kevin Gibson on the 10th lap and ran away from the field.
Riley Hickman of Ooltewah, Tenn., took the second spot from Mike Weeks of Friendsville, Tenn., on the final lap while Ray Cook of Brasstown, N.C., and Randy Weaver of Crossville, Tenn., rounded out the top five finishers. Gibson faded to a seventh-place finish.
Arp, who took the checkers a half-track ahead of his closest pursuer, completed the event in just over 10 minutes. He also captured SRRS victories at Boyd's on May 7 and Aug. 20.
Notes: SRRS points leader Anthony Burroughs of Muscle Shoals, Ala., was 16th. ... William Thomas of Phenix City, Ala., making his debut for Crossville, Tenn.-based car owner Brett Wyatt, was 14th. Wyatt decided to give up driving duties and serve as crew chief because his wife is due with a child in November.
