GAFFNEY, S.C. (Oct. 2) — Third-row starter Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., wrestled the lead from hometown Dennis Franklin and raced to victory in the first round of the Fastrak Grand Nationals at Cherokee Speedway. Davenport earned $2,000 in the Crate Late Model special.
Dan Breuer of Mooresville, N.C., came from his eighth starting spot to finish second with Anthony Sanders, Lee Cooper and David Smith rounded out the top five. Franklin was running second with a broken driveshaft knocked him out of the race.
The Fastrak Grand Nationals continue Oct. 9 at Modoc (S.C.) before the Oct. 23 finale at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Va.
