Ken Essary leads all the way at Muskogee
MUSKOGEE, Okla. (Oct. 9) — Ken Essary of Cape Fair, Mo., led all 25 laps at Thunderbird Speedway's half-mile fairgrounds oval Saturday for his third victory of the season on the Race Brothers Show Me Racing Series. Essary earned $1,000 for his 16th career series victory.
Shane Essary of Aurora, Mo., worked his way up to second in the final laps while fellow Aurora driver Dustin Mooneyham advanced three positions to finish third at the old Muskogee Speedway.
Chris Morelock of Springfield, Mo., was fourth and Scott Fry of Exeter, Mo., rallied from his 12th starting spot to round out the top five. Darrell Mooneyham of Verona, Mo., was running second on the white-flag lag, but a broken motor dropped the 39-year racing veteran to an 11th-place finish.
Series points leader Justin Wells of Aurora started fourth but spun in turns three and four on the third lap; he rallied back to finish sixth.
The Missouri-based tour concludes the season Oct. 16 at Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, Okla., at the 31st annual Spooker.
