Parker grabs Total Seal victory in Tucson
TUCSON, Ariz. (March 19) — Six-time champion Lonnie Parker Jr. of El Mirage, Ariz., on Saturday extended his points lead on the Total Seal Late Model Dirt Racing Series with a victory at USA Raceway.
Parker, capturing his series-leading 63rd victory overall and first since Oct. 29 at Canyon Speedway Park, came from the seventh starting spot for the $1,000 triumph. He took the lead with a third-to-first move in one corner while battling front-row starters Joey Moriarty and Paul Banghart. | Slideshow
Second-year driver Ricky Thornton Jr. of Chandler Ariz., who dethroned Parker last year to capture the series championship, finished second followed by Anthony Madrid of Phoenix in the 25-lapper at the 3/8-mile oval. Banghart, of Tucson, and Brad Williams of Arizona City rounded out the top five finishers. Moriarty, of Phoenix, was 10th in the 13-car field.
