Thornton wins Total Seal race at USA Raceway
TUCSON, Ariz. (April 23) – Defending series champion Ricky Thornton Jr. of Chandler, Ariz., scored a $1,000 victory in Saturday night’s Total Seal Late Model Dirt Racing Series event at USA Raceway.
The victory was the first of the year for Thornton, the 20-year-old driver who won last year’s series championship as a rookie.
Anthony Madrid of Phoenix, Ariz., followed Thornton to the finish in the second position, with six-time series champ Lonnie Parker Jr. of El Mirage, Ariz., finishing third. Jerry Fincher of Laveen, Ariz., finished fourth and hometown driver Brad Williams finished fifth.
Thornton also won the night’s open-wheel modified feature. The Total Seal Series returns to action with a doubleheader weekend May 28-29 at Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Ariz. Both races pay $1,000.
