Putnam scores $3,000 VRS victory at Boyd's
RINGGOLD, Ga. (May 6) – Josh Putnam of Killen, Ala., moved by Skip Arp of Georgetown, Tenn., midway through Friday night’s STARS Volunteer Racing Series event at Boyd’s Speedway and led the remainder of the race for his first victory on the second-year series. Putnam earned $3,000. | Slideshow
Chip Brindle of Chatsworth, Ga., also moved by Arp to score the runner-up finish. Arp finished third with Chris Wall of Springfield, La., fourth and Brandon Kinzer of Allen, Ky., fifth.
Notes: Putnam’s Pierce Race Car is powered by a Burns Racing Engine with sponsorship from B&M Salvage, Nolan England Auto Parts, Wesley Threet Excavating, and Wise Metals Group. ... The race’s only caution appeared on the second lap. ... The race was the second event of the season for the series. Brindle won the first race, which paid $3,000 at North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Ga. ... The series moves to Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway Saturday night for another $3,000-to-win event.
