English scores PCRA victory at Black River
POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (May 14) — Tanner English of Benton, Ky., rallied from his 18th starting spot for a victory in Saturday night’s Professional Crate Racers of America feature at Black River Raceway. The 17-year-old English earned $1,000 for winning the race, which was the second event for the first-year Crate Late Model Series.
Centralia, Ill., driver Nick Lyons, who won the inaugural series race May 6 at Fayette County Speedway, finished second. Hometown driver Kyle Berry finished third with Bobby Dauderman of Alhambra, Ill., and Tait Davenport of West Paducah, Ky., rounding out the top five finishers. Jeff Floyd of Walnut Ridge, Ark., led 20 laps but a flat tire knocked him from contention.
The race was scheduled to be the second round of a weekend doubleheader for the series at Black River, but Friday night’s event was rained out. The next series race is scheduled for May 29 at Windy Hollow Speedway in Owensboro, Ky.
