Cook claims first Comp Cams win at Drew County
MONTICELLO, Ark. (May 14) – Polesitter Curtis Cook survived a late battle with Timothy Culp in traffic Saturday night at Drew County Speedway to become the fourth first-time winner on the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series in 2011. The victory paid $2,000.
Cook, of Vilonia, Ark., controlled the first 25 laps of the 35-lap race before Culp of West Monroe, La., took the lead as the two drivers raced in traffic. But Cook battled back, reclaiming the point as Culp struggled to pass slower cars on lap 30.
Cook led the remainder of the race to earn the victory while Culp settled for the runner-up finish. Jon Mitchell of Texarkana, Texas, finished third with Trey Beene of Bossier City, La., and Kyle Beard of Trumann, Ark., rounding out the top five finishers.
