Parker gets $2,000 Road Show win at Charlotte
CONCORD, N.C. (May 28) — Polesitter Ron Parker of Lawndale, N.C., cruised to a victory in the 25-lap NDRA Road Show feature for Crate Late Models on Saturday at the Dirt Track at Charlotte. Parkers's $2,000 victory in the series opener was on the undercard of the Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown, a World of Outlaws sprint car event won by Paul McMahan. | Slideshow
Parker nearly ran into trouble when he spun out the No. 5 of Chase McCormick on the 14th lap, but nothing could stop him as he crossed the finish line in front of runner-up Jimmy Schiltz of Taylorsville, N.C., and Zack Mitchell of Enoree, S.C. The race was postponed 24 hours by Friday rain.
Besides the Parker-McCormick tangle, among accidents was when Dennis Franklin had to lift to avoid a spinning car in turn three and collected fellow consolation race winner Ryan Atkins.
Parker leads NDRA's City Chevrolet-sponsored weekly points with more than 10 victories so far in 2011.
