Troutman tops Virginians at Eastside
WAYNESBORO, Va. (June 3) — D.J. Troutman of Hyndman, Pa., fought off a pair of charging home-state drivers Friday at Eastside Speedway for a victory on the D&D Auto Recycling Steel Block Bandit tour. Troutman, who took the lead from Dustin Mitchell in the first half of the race, earned $2,000 for the victory.
Bare, of Rockbridge Baths, and Arthur, the reigning series champion from Forest who lost several positions earlier in the race, put the heat on Troutman in the final laps but settled for second and third. Justin Williams and Gerald Davis rounded out the top five in a race halted but a few early scrambles.
The night's consolation race was red-flagged for 20 minutes after Dan Arnold's car came to rest of the roof of the car of Trever Feathers in a turn-three melee, but no injuries were reported.
