Angelicchio breaks through at Tyler County
MIDDLEBOURNE, W.Va. (June 11) — Dan Angelicchio of Greensburg, Pa., led the final 11 laps Saturday at Tyler County Speedway for his first Fastrak-sanctioned touring victory. The 22-year-old earned $1,500 for the Fastrak Northeast and Mid-Ohio Valley series event.
"This is just awesome," said Angelicchio, who had 11 top-five series finishes before his victory. "I've been trying to win one of these for four years. "We've been so close. The car felt great, but I still felt like there were cars on me."
Local favorite Daniel Hill finished a career-best second followed by Max Blair and Lessley, who led 13 of the first 14 laps before giving up the lead to the winner. Shawn Jett rounded out the top five. Mike Griffin was disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct and placed last in the 24-car field.
