Bailes scores Ultimate Series victory at Laurens
LAURENS, S.C. (June 14) – Ross Bailes of Clover, S.C., visited victory lane in Tuesday night’s Shrine Race at Laurens County Speedway to earn a $3,000 payday in the Ultimate Super Late Model Series event. The victory is Bailes first on the series that was formerly the Southern All Star East Series. | Slideshow
Colby Cannon of Greenwood, S.C., followed Bailes to the runner-up finish while series points leader Chris Ferguson of Mount Holley, N.C., advanced from his 10th starting position to finish third. Casey Roberts of Toccoa, Ga., finished fourth with leading series rookie Chip Brindle of Chatsworth, Ga., rounding out the top five finishers.
Notes: Bailes drove a MasterSbilt Race Car with sponsorship from Professional Restoration. ... Ferguson’s third-place effort extends his points lead to five points over Brindle. ... The next race for the series is a $4,000-to-win event July 3 at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, S.C. The series has three other events scheduled next month to make it the tour’s busiest month to date. Events include a $4,000-to-win race at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn., July 16, a $10,000-to-win at Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, Va., July 23 and a $5,000-to-win event July 30 at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Va.
