Covert completes Nininger Memorial sweep at Winchester
WINCHESTER, Va. (June 25) — Jason Covert of York Haven, Pa., completed a weekend sweep on the Three State Flyers circuit Saturday at Winchester Speedway. Covert earned $4,000 for a victory in the Red Nininger Memorial, adding it to $3,000 he won the previous night Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway's version of the same race.
D.J. Myers of Greencastle, Pa., was runner-up at Winchester followed by Jeremy Miller of Gettysburg, Pa. Gary Stuhler of Greencastle, Pa., and hometown driver Bo Feathers rounded out the top five finishers.
Myers and Covert started on the front row with Myers jumping out to the early lead. Covert took over on the seventh lap, and the field was bunched for a lap-14 caution. Myers chases Covert the rest of the distance, slowed once more by a lap-26 caution, but couldn't overtake Covert.
