Polesitting Robinson rolls to Wood Tic victory
MERRITT, Mich. (July 14-16) — Polesitter Justin Robinson of Shepherd, Mich., earned $4,000 at Merritt Speedway for capturing the Late Model portion of the 23rd annual Wood Tic 100. Robinson's UMP-sanctioned victory ended Eric Spangler's four-race win streak at the 3/8-mile oval.
Don Erickson of Traverse City, Mich., finished second followed by Justin McNeill of nearby Houghton Lake. Bob Hammar of Boon, Mich., and Josh Knoll of Clare, Mich., rounded out the top five. Spangler, of Lake City, started 22nd after having a flat tire in a preliminary event and rallied to finish sixth.
In a special Thursday night qualifying session, track records fell in each division. David Hilliker now owns the Late Model record at 14.41 seconds, earning a $500 bonus.
