McDowell dominates North Georgia's Top Dog 50

DirtonDirt.com correspondentCHATSWORTH, Ga. (Aug. 4) — Dale McDowell of nearby Chickamauga, Ga., led all the way Thursday at North Georgia Speedway for a victory in the unsanctioned Top Dog 50 at the third-mile oval.
McDowell got the jump on polesitter and fast qualifier Ray Cook of Brasstown, N.C., and stayed in command all the way at a track where he's had extensive success. | Slideshow
Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, Tenn., rallied from his 17th starting spot, grabbing the second spot on the 49th lap to finish second. Cook settled for third with William Thomas of Phenix City, Ala., and Randy Weaver of Crossville, Tenn., rounding out the top five.
Lamar Scoggins of Cleveland, Tenn., captured the night's Limited Late Model feature.
