Klint Byars tops MSSC foes at Hattiesburg
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (Aug. 5) — Polesitter Klint Byars of Carrollton, Miss., his first previous series victory at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park under appeal after the series charged him with using illegally-altered tires, grabbed another checkered flag Friday at the quarter-mile oval. His Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series victory paid $2,000.
Reigning series champion David Breazeale of Four Corners, Miss., was second with Cliff Williams of Star, Miss., in third. Consolation race winner Jeremy Broadus of Biloxi, Miss., rallied to finish fourth in the 18-car field and Steve Bryan of Collinsville, Miss., was fifth for his third straight top-five finish in a new MasterSbilt Race Car.
Byars also crossed the line first in MSCCS action May 27 at Hattiesburg, but that victory was disallowed after lab tests revealed he used chemically-enhanced tires.
