McGill scores $5,000 in Hitt Memorial at Elkins
KERENS, W.Va. (Aug. 12) – Butch McGill of West Union, W.Va., won Friday night’s unsanctioned Jim Hitt Memorial at Elkins Raceway and earned $5,000 for his second special-event victory of the season at the 3/8-mile racetrack. | Slideshow
Booper Bare of Rockbridge Baths, Va., followed McGill to the finish in the runner-up position with Robbie Scott of Shinnston, W.Va., third. Jacob Hawkins of Fairmont, W.Va., was fourth and Tim Senic of Elkins, W.Va., was fifth.

McGill’s previous special-event victory at Elkins came in a June 17 UFO Race Championship event that paid $3,000-to-win. It was his first-career UFO triumph. ... The event was originally scheduled for Aug. 5, but was postponed one week due to rain. ... Prior to Friday’s event, Hawkins was the most recent Late Model winner at Elkins. He $2,000 for winning the Richard G. Skidmore Memorial on July 29.
