Boen competes JMS sweep with $3,000 victory
MCCOOL JUNCTION, Neb. (Aug. 13) – Completing a sweep of Junction Motor Speedway’s doubleheader weekend, Kelly Boen of Henderson, Colo., scored a $3,000 victory in Saturday night’s Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association and National Championship Racing Association DIRTcar Series co-sanctioned event. | Slideshow
Saturday's triumph backed up Friday night's win at the 3/8-mile racetrack that earned the defending NCRA champion $2,000.
Al Humphrey of Giltner, Neb., trailed Boen to the finish in the runner-up position with John Anderson of Omaha, Neb., third. MLRA points leader Al Purkey of Coffeyville, Kan., finished fourth with Dave Eckrich of Oxford, Iowa, fifth.
Notes: Boen’s Rocket Chassis is sponsored by Road Runner Fabrication and Pannell Motorsports. ... Boen’s won Friday night’s event over Kyle Berck of Marquette, Neb., in a side-by-side finish. Berck finished 20th in Saturday’s race, after falling out with mechanical problems. ... The MLRA tour returns to action with a weekend doubleheader Aug. 20-21 at Thunder Hill Speedway in Mayetta, Kan., and State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo. Both races pay $3,000 to the winner. ... The NCRA Series has a three races planned for Labor Day weekend in Kansas with visits to Humboldt Speedway, 81 Speedway in Park City, and Belleville High Banks.
