Weeks cruises to Clash victory at Lancaster
LANCASTER, S.C. (April 14) — Five-time series champion Ricky Weeks of Rutherfordton, N.C., led every lap Saturday at Lancaster (S.C.) Motor Speedway for his first Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series victory of the season. The polesitting Weeks, the winningest driver in series history, earned $4,000 for his 34th career triumph on the tour.
Outside front-row starter Ross Bailes of Clover, S.C., finished nearly two seconds behind Weeks while Dustin Mitchell of Princeton, S.C., improved four spots to finish third. Johnny Pursley of Clover was fourth.
Scott Autry of Autryville, N.C., who won $20,000 a week earlier at Lancaster in the unsanctioned Carolina Crown, rounded out the top five while Carolina Clash points leader Luke Roffers of Concord, N.C., was sixth.
Nine of 20 starters finished on the lead lap and 10 were running at the finish.
Notes: Weeks pilots a Rocket Chassis sponsored by Parton Lumber. ... Travis Yow received hard charger honors for his 16th-to-ninth run. ... After three series races, Luke Roffers lead with 96 points over Jeff Smith (95) and Johnny Pursley (93). ... The series returns to action May 5 with a $4,000-to-win event at Fayetteville (N.C.) Motor Speedway.
