Wall leads Childress team's sweep at Jones
CHATHAM, La. (April 28) — For the second consecutive week, Childress Racing teammates B.J. Robinson and Chris Wall swept the top two spots of a Southern United Professional Racing event. Only this time around they switched places.
Wall, of Springfield, La., who finished second to Robinson of Shreveport, La., in last week’s SUPR event at Greenville (Miss.) Speedway, outdueled his teammate Saturday at Jones Motor Speedway and earned $2,500 for his first victory since joining the Childress team at the beginning of the season.
Ray Moore of Shreveport, La., rallied from the 12th starting position to finish behind Robinson in the third position while Bubba Mullins of West Monroe, La., finished fourth. Allen Tippen of Minden, La., rounded out the top five after starting 16th.
Timothy Culp of West Monroe, La., started from the pole of the 40-lapper, but ran into trouble and ended 15th in the final rundown. Two-time series champion Rob Litton of Alexandria, La., led the tour’s standings by 44 points over Tippen entering the tour’s fourth event of the season, but struggled in finishing 16th.
The SUPR tour takes a week off before returning to action May 12 with a $2,500 event at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas.
