Shirley tops Bull in Fairbury's ALMS event

DirtonDirt.com correspondentFAIRBURY, Ill. (May 19) — Brian Shirley of Chatham, Ill., overtook hometown driver Scott Bull late in Saturday night’s Sunoco American Late Model Series feature at Fairbury American Legion Speedway and cruised to a $2,000 victory at the quarter-mile oval.
Bull settled for the runner-up finish with Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, Ill., third. Jason Feger of Bloomington, Ill., twice rallied from the back to finish fourth with Kevin Weaver of Gibson City, Ill., who won Friday’s series race at Kankakee (Ill.) County Speedway, rounding out the top five.
Notes: Shirley’s Pierce Race Car is sponsored by Jayco Construction, Skateland South, Allstar Performance, Kim’s Autobody, JFR Graphics, Wood Heating and Air and Apex Performance Racing Outfitters. … The victory is Shirley’s second on the ALMS tour. His first came at Kankakee on Oct. 1, 2010. … The tour concludes its Illinois tripleheader Sunday with a $2,000-to-win event at Lincoln Speedway.
