Chubzilla makes another assault on Lernerville
From series and track reports
SARVER, Pa. (Aug. 31) — Winning again at one of his favorite tracks, Chub Frank of Bear Lake, Pa., dominated the Cleveland Brothers MACS 35 at Lernerville Speedway for his third victory in the last four Mid-Atlantic Championship Series events at the track.
Frank led every lap to collect a $5,000 payday for outrunning fellow World of Outlaws Late Model Series competitors Josh Richards and Darrell Lanigan. Defending MACS champion Jason Covert, who started 20th, and Steve Shaver rounded out the top five in the Friday night special.
Frank and Dan Stone led the 25-car field to the green with Frank taking command early. Dave Hess Jr. took second from Stone as Lanigan and Richards battled for fifth.
Frank moved into lapped traffic by the 10th lap before Stone, who was running fourth, performed a 360-degree spin exiting turn two and managed to keep his car going despite losing nine positions.
The race's only caution appeared when Rob Blair's car stopped with a broken rear end, and Frank went back to work on the restart while Hess and Richards dropped Shaver to fourth.
Richards moved past Hess for second while Lanigan and Covert also made their way into contention. The second-running Richards tried to track down Frank, but Chubzilla was a convincing winner at the checkered flag.
