Berry tops Garmann for victory in Aztec opener
AZTEC, N.M. (June 8) — Jeep Berry of Grand Junction, Colo., captured Friday’s weekend opener of the Championship Late Model Association DIRTcar Southern Series at Aztec Speedway, earning $1,500.
Berry, who also won in CLMA action at Aztec last season, notched his eighth career series victory and stands fifth all-time with the Colorado-based racing organization.
Dave Garmann of Brighton, Colo., finished second with hometown driver Garrett Higgins in third. Dean Moore of Grand Junction, Colo., was fourth and Garrett Alberson of Las Cruces, N.M., rounded out the top five.
The event drew 20 drivers from four states for the first of two weekend shows. Saturday’s event pays $2,500-to-the winner.
