Mitchell ends Comp Cams drought at 67
TEXARKANA, Ark. (June 23) — Home-track favorite Jon Mitchell of Texarkana, Texas, ended a near three-year drought on the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series with Saturday’s victory at 67 Speedway. The fourth-starting Mitchell earned $2,000 for his third career series victory and first since an Aug. 22, 2009, at Greenville (Miss.) Speedway.
Reigning series champion Brandon Smith of Floral, Ark., advanced five spots to finish second in the 35-lapper while polesitter Curtis Cook of Vilonia, Ark., going for a weekend sweep after Friday’s victory at Beebe Speedway, ended up third after leading the first 18 laps.
Outside front-row starter Jon Kirby of Russellville, Ark., was fourth and Mason Oberkramer of Broseley, Mo., rounded out the top five finishers.
