Weder captures first Late Model win at Enid
ENID, Okla. (July 4) — Modified ace and home-track driver Tommy Weder Jr. of Woodward, Okla., led all the way Wednesday at Enid Speedway to capture his first career Late Model feature victory. The National Championship Racing Association triumph was worth $2,000.
Weder took the checkers ahead of polesitter and fellow front-row starter Ricky Thornton Jr. of Chandler, Ariz., while Matt Johnson of Archie, Mo., was third for his second straight top-three finish in NCRA action. Tony Jackson Jr. of Lebanon, Mo., was fourth and home-state driver Gary Christian of Broken Bow rounded out the top five.
Cautions appeared when Damian Patocka climbed the turn-one wall early in the race, and when Cliff Morrow stopped in turn three on the sixth lap.
