Blair gets seventh Fastrak Northeast victory
CONNEAUT, Ohio (July 7) — Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., continued the winningest season in Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Fastrak Northeast Series history on Friday with a $1,200 triumph at Raceway 7.
Blair rallied from his 10th starting spot for the victory, taking the lead from Dan Angelicchio of Greensburg, Pa., just before halfway en route to his 19th career tour victory overall. Angelicchio, Nolan Dalton, Mike Pegher Jr. and Chad Wright rounded out the top five.
"That was a lot of fun," the 22-year-old Blair said. "Speedweek started off real bad blowing a motor at Expo, and last week at Eldora (Speedway) we blew a motor and it stuffed me into the fence and tore up a lot of stuff. We really needed a couple good runs. Hopefully we can keep this momentum up and finish out the week. Any time you start further back it's tough, but I do love this track and I love racing here. I grew up here watching dad and remember playing up there in that sandbox.”
Angelicchio barely edged Dalton, who along with Wright matched his best tour finish.
Speedweek continues Saturday at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway for the $1,200-to-win fourth leg.
