Sitton outruns Mitchell at Lone Star

Southern United Professional RacingKILGORE, Texas (July 7) — Kevin Sitton of Baytown, Texas, won from the pole position at Lone Star Speedway for his second Southern United Professional Racing victory of the season. Sitton, whose previous victory also came in Texas on June 1 at Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, earned $2,500.
Outside front-row starter Jon Mitchell of Texarkana gave Texas a sweep of the top two spots while series points leader Allen Tippen of Minden, La., finished third. Jeff Chanler of Minden and Jody Prince of Sibley, La., rounded out the top five.
The night’s third heat race was halted for fence repair when Bill Blue Jr. hit the wall; he scratched from the feature event.
