Walters, Wines split DAA wins at Grays Harbor

DAA Northwest Extreme Late Model SeriesELMA, Wash. (July 21) — Greg Walters of Banks, Org., and Jason Wines of Lebanon, Org., split $1,000 DAA Northwest Extreme Late Model Series presented by Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes victories Saturday at Grays Harbor Raceway as the Crate Late Model tour made up the remaining distance of Friday’s rained-out feature and contested Saturday’s regularly scheduled program.
Saturday’s slate of racing kicked off with the completion of Friday night’s feature, which was 10 laps in before rain struck the 3/8-mile oval. Tanner Wines of Lebanon, Org., led all laps made Friday, but Jerry Schram of Vancouver, Wash., overtook Wines when racing resumed on Saturday.
Schram showed the way until Walters, the series champion from Banks, Ore., took the lead on lap 18. Walters led the remaining distance to score his second DAA victory of the season.
Schram finished second followed by Jason Wines. Tim Goodwin of Lebanon, Org., was fourth with Jason Johnson of Gresham, Org., completing the top five.
Wines had the field covered in Saturday’s second feature, leading every lap to earn his first DAA series win of the season and the second of his career at Grays Harbor.
Walters completd a solid night of racing with a runner-up finish in the second feature, ahead of Goodwin in third. Johnson was fourth with Schram fifth.
The DAA Northwest Extreme Late Model Series presented by Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes returns to action Aug. 4 at Sunset Speedway Park in Banks, Org., for the Doug Walters Classic.
