Hess earns $3,500 for first ULMS win of 2012
EAST SMETHPORT, Pa. (Aug. 1) — Fourth-starting Dave Hess Jr. of Waterford, Pa., raced to his first Kennedy Motorsports United Late Model Series victory of the season Wednesday night at McKean County Raceway, earning $3,500 after overtaking Gregg Satterlee of Rochester Mills, Pa., during the second half of the 35-lap race. | Slideshow
Satterlee settled for second at the finish, ahead of reigning series champion and current points leader Mike Knight of Ripley, N.Y. Boom Briggs of Bear Lake, Pa., Knight’s closest challenger in the series standings, finished fourth with Matt Lux of Franklin, Pa., rounding out the top five.
Notes: Hess drives a Rocket Chassis sponsored by Hess Garage & Salvage, Linda's Notary Service, Plyler Overhead Door, Beacon Lubricants and Jim Brozell Construction. … The victory is Hess’ sixth overall this season in his Late Model after sitting out until late May due to back surgery. … Hess also won the night’s E-mod feature. … The ULMS tour returns to action Aug. 11 with a $2,000-to-win event at Woodhull (N.Y.)
