Erb tops Feger for ALMS victory at La Salle
La SALLE, Ill. (Aug. 11) — Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersville, Ill., raced to the third Sunoco American Late Model Series victory of his career Saturday night at La Salle Speedway, earning $2,000 in the quarter-mile oval’s Fall Brawl.
Jason Feger of Bloomington, Ill., followed Erb across the finish line in an all-Illinois top five. Brian Shirley of Chatham, was third with Ryan Unizicker of El Paso, and 17th-starting Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, rounding out the top five.
Notes: Erb's Bloomquist Race Car has a Vic Hill Racing Engine and sponsorship from McBride Mack, Petersen Aluminum and PRC. … The victory is Erb’s first on the ALMS tour since Oct. 10, 2009 at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. He also won at Kamp Motor Speedway in Boswell, Ind., in ’09. … Saturday’s race was the second of a weekend tripleheader for the ALMS tour in Illinois. Two time series champion Rusty Schlenk of Weston, Ohio, won Friday’s race at Kankakee County Speedway. … Drivers failing to make the La Salle feature lineup: Toby Kuntzleman, Bob Simpson, Jeff Small, John Small, Lyle Zanker, Don Gordon and Ande Bivens. ... The series closes out the weekend Sunday at Lincoln Speedway.
