Redetzke captures Larry Gerlach Memorial
ABERDEEN, S.D. (Aug. 15) — Reigning series champion Jake Redetzke of Eau Claire, Wis., captured the second annual Larry Gerlach Memorial on Wednesday at Brown County Speedway for his second straight WISSOTA Challenge Series victory. | Slideshow
Redetzke, who started third in the 26-car field, earned $3,000 for the victory. Sixth-starting Jeremy Keller of Mandan, S.D., crossed the finish line second at the 3/8-mile oval.
Reigning track champ and hometown driver Kent Arment, who started on the pole, was third followed by Steve Laursen of Cumberland, Wis., and David McDonald of Huron, S.D., in a race that’s part of the Brown County Fair.
Series points leader John Kaanta of Elk Mound, Wis., was eighth.
Notes: Redetzke’s MB2 Customs car is powered by a Wegner Automotive Research engine and sponsored by Champ Pans, J&D Manufacturing, Curt Inc., Toys Scrap & Salvage, Rolly’s Coach Club, Mars Racing and Coldwell Banker agent Bob Seckora. ... Redetzke moved into fourth all-time on the series victory list with his ninth win. ... Lance Matthees of Winona, Minn., started outside the front row and came home ninth. ... The race honors long-time fair manager Larry Gerlach, who died of a heart attack in February 2011. ... The series completes its season Sept. 1 at Hibbing (Minn.) Speedway.
