Blackburn tops Mitchell for 311 Ultimate victory
MADISON, N.C. (Aug. 25) — Local standout Steve Blackburn of Greensboro, N.C., swiped the lead from Zack Mitchell of Enoree, S.C., on the fifth lap of Saturday night’s Ultimate Super Late Model Series event at 311 Motor Speedway and led the remaining distance for his first series victory.
Blackburn turned back Mitchell’s repeated challenges on his way to the $4,000 payday in the Terry Wiles and Steve Setzer Memorial. Mitchell settled for second ahead of Billy Hicks of Mount Airy, N.C. Series points leader Casey Roberts of Toccoa, Ga., was fourth with Dustin Mitchell of Pine Level, N.C., rounding out the top five.
The Ultimate Series takes an extended break before returning to action Nov. 9-10 at County Line Raceway in Elm City, NC.
