Rookie grabs NLRA victory at Buffalo River
GLYNDON, Minn. (Aug. 26) — Canadian rookie Shane Edginton of East St. Paul, Manitoba, notched his first career Late Model victory Sunday at Buffalo River Race Park, earning $1,100 on the Northern LateModel Racing Association.
Starting outside the front row, Edginton took over from polesitter Mitch Johnson of Hickson, N.D., and led all the way. Fourth-starting Zach Johnson of Kensington, Minn., challenged Edginton late but settled for second on a track surface where passing was at a premium.
Dustin Strand of Grand Forks, N.D., was third followed by 15th-starting Brad Seng of Grand Forks and series points leader Ricky Weiss of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Two-time series champion Cody Skytland of Fargo, N.D., was battling among the top five late but was disqualified for unsportsmanlike driving and conduct after a last-lap tangle with Strand.
The first Late Model event at the track in more than 10 years drew a huge crowd and 23 Late Models.
