Zach Johnson ends NLRA drought at Viking
ALEXANDRIA, Minn. (Sept. 1) — Zach Johnson of Kensington, Minn., ended a year-long drought on the National Late Model Racing Association on Saturday at Viking Speedway. Johnson earned $1,100 in the first of two Labor Day weekend series events at Viking.
Johnson started outside the front row and beat sixth-starting Mike Balcaen of Winnipeg, Manitoba, to the checkers. Grand Forks, N.D., drivers Brad Send (who started 13th) and polesitter Dustin Strand were next while NLRA points leader Ricky Weiss of Winnipeg rounded out the top five in the 27-car field.
