Provinzino bags $2,000 Thunder in the Pines win
GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. (Sept. 23) — Polesitter Jeff Provinzino of Hibbing, Mo., raced to victory in Sunday’s Thunder in the Pines finale at Grand Rapids Speedway, earning a $2,000 victory in an event that was postponed from Saturday due to Friday’s prelims being pushed back by rain.
Kyle Peterlin, also of Hibbing, was second in the WISSOTA-sanctioned season-ending weekend event while Mike Balcaen of Winnipeg, Manitoba, advanced from sixth to third. Jeff Massingill of Keewatin, Minn., was fourth from his 13th starting spot with 19th-starting Jay Kintner of Hibbing, Minn., rounding out the top five.
Tom Waseleski Jr. of Pengilly, Minn., was eighth in final rundown after winning Saturday night’s Thunder in the Pines weekend opening feature.
