Boggs wraps up 201's season with $3,000 victory
SITKA, Ky. (Nov. 10) — Jackie Boggs of Grayson, Ky., dominated the recently reopened 201 Speedway on Saturday for a $3,000 victory in the weather-postponed Halloween 50.
Boggs picked up a $500 bonus for winning at 201 in addition to capturing a companion event two weeks earlier at Willard Speedway, the Black Jack and Farley Boggs Memorial that honored his late father.
At 201, Boggs lowered the track record in time trials with a 12.99-second lap, cruised to victory in his heat race and led every lap of the main event from the pole position.
Fellow Kentucky natives Eddie Carrier Jr. and Josh McGuire chased him across the line with Carrier, who races out of Salt Rock, W.Va., for Grover Motorsports, in second and McGuire, of Grayson, in third.
Victor Lee of Harrodsburg, Ky., and Rod Conley of Wheelersburg, Ohio, rounded out the top five finishers in the race originally scheduled for Oct. 27.
Notes: Boggs drives a Jay Dickens-powered Swartz Race Cars that’s sponsored by Trick Shot, Miller Brothers Construction, The Weld Shop, McDonald's and CMW Racing. ... The race concludes the season at 201, which plans a full season of action next year. ... Jarrod Breeding purchased the eastern Kentucky oval from Chuckie May in the fall.
